Цель: создать условия для практического применения английского языка в разных видах речевой деятельности.

Задачи: развитие предметных компетенций (учебно-познавательной компетенции)

  • В области устной речи: монологической – через выполнение различных упражнений; диалогической – через составление диалога по опоре;
  • В области поискового чтения;
  • Обучение учащихся способам решения проблемно-ситуативных задач с помощью заданий коммуникативного характера, стимулирующих речевое мышление и взаимодействие участников в условиях самостоятельности

Общепредметные компетенции: развивать фонематический слух, способность к переключению внимания в разных видах речевой деятельности, к планированию своей речевой деятельности, к выбору выражений, адекватных ситуации, к осуществлению репродуктивных и продуктивных речевых действий – т.е. формировать деятельностный компонент предметной компетенции; развитие памяти и способности анализировать.

Коммуникативная компетенция: обеспечение грамотного уровня владения языком, готовность общаться в группе и парах

Воспитательный аспект: способствовать воспитанию культуры общения и формированию потребности в практическом использовании английского языка

Lesson Procedure

I. Warming up.

Good Morning! How are you? Is it a lovely day today, isn’t it? Are you in a good mood? Are you ready to speak English?

And I’m very upset today. Our topic is hidden. Help me to guess it. Read: TravellingthroughEnglishspeakingcountries.

II.

1. Look at these faces, please. Imagine you are beings from another planet. You have got a letter from unknown planet. You speak English. But you don’t know anything about English speaking countries. Would you like to travel through these countries? Let’s start our trip.

To travel successfully we should repeat our vocabulary. Our first station is «Lexical»

a) Choose English equivalents. Read:

2. You are ready to go on our trip. Next station is the USA. You’ll learn a lot of interesting about this country.

The USA is one of the most powerful and advanced countries in the world. It stretches from the Atlantic ocean in the east to the Pacific ocean in the west and from Canada in the north to Mexico in the south. The capital of the USA is Washington, though some people think it’s New York. This famous city is the financial and culture center of the USA.
The USA has the third largest population in the world. People of different nationalities live in the USA.
English is the official language in the USA. But the English language here is known as American English.
The climate is different in different regions of the country. For example, the Pacific coast is a region of mild winters and warm, dry summers, but the eastern continental region is watered with rainfall.
There are many mountains in the USA. The main river of the country is the Mississipi.
Motto of this country is «In God we trust».

Discuss in groups. Two of you will be reporters. (You should listen to the conversation and make the report).

5. Our next station is New Zealand. Pupils with number 1 read the text quickly. Pupils with number 2 try to make up questions.

New Zealand is a small and quiet country in the Pacific Ocean. It consists of two main islands and some smaller islands. When it’s winter in New Zealand, it’s summer in Europe. But the school year still starts in autumn – in February. When it’s time to go to bed in Europe, it’s time to go to work in this country. The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. The population of this country is mixed. Some people came from Britain years ago. Some Maori people lived here before the British came. The official languages are English and Maori. There are many rivers and lakes in New Zealand. You have heard about the native animals in it. One of them is kiwi. This interesting bird comes out only at night to find food. Kiwis can not fly. The kiwi is now the symbol of New Zealand.
New Zealand is sometimes called «The World’s Biggest Farm». It is famous for its products: butter, cheese, meat.

Imagine that some of you are from New Zealand, another are reporters. Work in pairs.

Great Britain is an island state. It’s one of the world’s smallest countries – it’s twice smaller than France or Spain. But it is the largest island in Europe, contains England, Scotland and Wales. The population of the UK is nearly 60 million people. They live mostly in towns and cities. There are many people of all colours and races in the UK.

The capital of the UK is London. London is the world’s seventh biggest city.

The official language is English

The climate of Great Britain is mild. It is not too hot in summer or too cold in winter. It often rains in England.

There are many rivers in Great Britain. The main river is the Thames.

There are many Universities, colleges, museums and theatres in the country. Many tourists visit this attractive country.
