– Hello, dear friends!
– We’ve come to you from Russia!
– We live in Moscow – the capital city of our country.
– Let’s meet each other!

2. Песня – гимн (исполняют все учащиеся).

3. Ведущие  начинают свой рассказ, который сопровождается видеорядом и музыкальным оформлением.

– First of all, we’ll tell you about our Educational Centre and our theatre studio called Debut. The age range of the students is quite wide from 7 to 17 years old. Everyone finds it very exciting and enjoys staging new performances. Our repertoire is based on the plays of different kinds.
– Each performance has its own artistic spirit. The lion and the Mouse, a story about true friendship, where the weakest helps the strongest. The Wild Swans – a fairytale about the bravery, kindness and ability to self sacrifice. The Ant and the Cricket – an instructive story about a hardworking ant.
– Orpheus and Eurydice – a wonderful world of ancient Elides myths where people are beautiful and patience is immeasurable. Excalibur – a historical ballade about love to homeland, true love and strength of spirit.
– Besides, there are performances the Nightingale and the Rose, The Crystal Balls, The Beauty and the Beast, The Sea Robots, Halloween and Christmas plays.
– But why do we do that? First of all, taking part in the theatre studio helps us to study English very much. More over, we even meet with the authors of our course books Virginia Evans and Jenny Dooley.
– We show our performances in front of the wide audience and take part in many theatre festivals in which we often win.
– We are dreaming of developing the studio staging a lot of new productions and we hope sincerely to show our plays in Great Britain too as our plays are bilingual, our young actors can play both in Russian and in English.
– And we are sure the art has no frontiers and this kind of work will help to develop and strengthen the friendship between our countries.
– We are so happy that today we sing and play hand in hand together.
– We are also going to tell you about Russia today.
– Russia is an unusual, beautiful and rich country.
– Our country is rich in its natural resources, immense expanses, rivers and seas, but our main wealth – is our people, their spiritual riches.  .
– We are proud of our country, we know its history and culture.

– Russian people have been very musical since ancient times. People could play many different musical instruments: gusli, pipes, reed-pipes, tambourines, penny bells, balalaikas, bayans and others.
– They were made and painted by hand, and the secrets of their making were passing from generation to generation. They are unique like all the folk instruments. Their sounds fascinate, excite and inspire!
– Being influenced by them, the greatest Russian composers Chaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Glinka created their masterpieces.
– And folk skilled craftsmen made the utensils, household articles, clothes and jewellery.
– Master craftsmen not only made these things, but they tried to do them very beautiful. Every region of Russia had and has now its own unique style and colour.
– For example, hohloma: the wooden things are painted with black, red and golden colours. Skilled craftsmen make different things: from spoons to furniture!
– Gzel is another form of art. Snow white ceramics are painted with bright blue colours.
– Zhostovo is gardens of paradise on the black background! They are trays, caskets and many others.

– Russia is famous for holidays, too! There are a lot of them! Of course, the main holiday is Christmas. Christmas tree, presents, merry feasts, kolyadas, carol singing, ice sliding and driving in a sledge harnessed to three horses.
– It’s so much alike Christmas in Great Britain, isn’t it?
– And then – seeing off the winter and meeting the spring! It’s famous Russian Maslenitsa!
– This holiday symbolizes coming of the warm season. It’s a holiday of the sun, light and warmth! The symbol of the sun is a pancake. It’s as round and golden as the sun.
– It’s alike Halloween! Pumpkin is also a symbol of the sun!
– Good point! And traditional pancakes are eaten with caviar, soured cream, jam and enormous speed!

– One of the most ancient and mysterious holidays is Ivan Kupala. According to pagan mythology, Ivan Kupala was a god of water. The night of Ivan Kupala is full of magic.
– Wicked witches, wizards, mermaids, warlocks, forest and water spirits, werewolves become especially active and dangerous. People believe, that only fire and fresh water can protect them from evil spirits and demonic forces.
– People bathed in a river, washed with the morning dew, poured water over each other, jumped over the fire, sang and danced, and they believed that they would be happy, healthy and powerful.
– People gathered the herbs, that helped to cure the illnesses throughout the year, as on the night of Ivan Kupala, trees, herbs and flowers are said to gain magical powers.
