Цели урока:

  • обобщить лингвострановедческий материал по теме “Традиции празднования нового года в разных странах”;
  • углубить и расширить знания по теме.

Задачи:

  • Обучающая - обучение навыкам говорения по теме “Традиции празднования нового года в разных странах”, изучение фраз на иностранных языках, формирование лексических навыков, обучение аудированию (понимание слышанного).
  • Практическая - формирование речевой компетенции-совершенствование коммуникативных умений в четырех основных видах речевой деятельности (говорении, аудировании, чтении.
  • Воспитательная - воспитывать уважение к культуре, истории, традициям разных стран знакомство с другими иностранными языками, развитие интереса к изучению иностранных языков.
  • Развивающая - развитие социокультурной компетенции — увеличение объема знаний о специфике различных стран, а именно традициях и обычаях встречи Нового Года, развитие памяти и речевых навыков по теме, развитие речемыслительной деятельности и языковой догадки, расширение кругозора обучающихся.

Оснащение урока: новогодние украшения, настенные газеты по заданной тематике, традиционные костюмы стран – участников парада, флаги, новогодние открытки разных стран, конфеты, проектный экран, презентация (Приложение).

Участники: учащиеся 6-7 классов

Подготовка мероприятия: обучающиеся разбиваются на группы, выбирают страну, рисуют стенгазеты о новогодних традициях выбранной страны, готовят традиционные костюмы, украшают класс.

Ход урока

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls. We are glad to see you. Let's start our New Year’s Parade of Countries. So, our task is to brush up our knowledge about New Year traditions and customs in different countries. We know that many of you have never been to these countries but today we want you to feel as if you are there. We are going on a virtual trip to them. I’m sure you’ll learn a lot. Be attentive! In the end, we will check your knowledge! Welcome to New Year’s Parade of Countries! (Слайд 1)

Teacher: We begin our trip from…look at the picture of one of its sightseeing and guess the country. (Слайд 2)

Pupils: The USA

Teacher: Yes, it’s the USA. Now our guests from America tell us how they celebrate the New Year in America.

Pupil 1: The New Year in the USA is celebrated from the evening of December 31st into January 1st . The date was declared as the New Year in 1752. (Слайд 3)

Pupil 2: Americans decorate their houses and trees with lanterns, flash lights and colored papers. Flags are also adorned to express happiness. (Слайд 4)

Pupil 3: Thousands of Americans and visitors from around the world celebrate the New Year in a famous Times-Square. (Слайд 5)

Pupil 4: The Times Square Ball is a time ball located in New York City's Times Square. The ball drops from 43 m in 60 seconds down a specially designed flagpole, beginning at 11:59:00 p.m. and resting at midnight to signal the start of the new year. (Слайд 6)

Teacher: How do we congratulate with the New Year in English? (Слайд 7)

Pupils: Happy New Year!

Pupils: Brazil

Pupil 1: New Year in Brazil is summer holiday. Brazilians celebrate the New Year dancing and singing. (Слайд 9)

Pupil 2: New Year in many countries is a family holiday, but not in Brazil.  They gather in large noisy companies and go to cafes, nightclubs. (Слайд 10)

Pupil 3: People throw flowers, soap, candles and any other objects into the ocean as a gift to the goddess of the Sea and jump over seven waves. (Слайд 11)

Teacher: How do we say “Happy New Year” in Spanish? (Слайд 12)

Pupils: feliz ano nuevo!

Teacher: Well done! Guess the name of this country. (Слайд 13)

Pupils: Germany.

Pupil 1: New Year is popularly called as “Neujahr” in Germany. It is celebrated on January 1st.

In many cities, there are big public celebrations that often begin in the evening and last throughout the night. (Слайды 14-15)

Pupil 2: Some people hold private celebrations at home. They invite friends and family members and prepare a festive meal, often in the form of a buffet. (Слайд 16)

Pupil 3: Midnight is often marked by fireworks and fire crackers. People may give each other gifts of four-leaf clover as a symbol of good luck for the New Year. (Слайд 17)

Pupils: France

Pupil 1: People in France celebrate New Year on January 1st. The French call New Year's Eve “la Saint-Sylvestre” (Слайд 20)

Pupil 2: New Year's Eve is usually celebrated with a feast, called “le Reveillon de Saint-Sylvestre”. The feast consists of traditional dishes like pancakes and foie gras. According to French traditions, this special dinner brings prosperity and good luck. (Слайд 21)

Pupil 3: French love to decorate their homes and banquet tables with bouquets of flowers and twigs of mistletoe. People believe that the mistletoe branch brings good luck to the house for the whole year. (Слайд 22)

Pupil 4: The French prefer to celebrate the New Year in restaurants, wearing funny pointed hats, and confetti showering each other. On New Year’s Day – “le jour de l’an” – parades fill the streets. (Слайд 23)

Pupils: Italy

Pupil 1: In Italy the New Year is celebrated on January 1st. It is known as ‘January Kalends’. The preparations start with decoration of houses. Italians wear new clothes and exchange gifts on these days. (Слайд 26)

Pupil 2: Italians like to eat very much especially on New Year's Eve. There are usually nuts, pork dishes, caviar and grapes on New Year’s tables. (Слайд 27)

Pupil 3: The most popular Italian tradition is to throw away old things. Italians throw out old things directly from a window. (Слайд 28)

Pupil 4: Another funny tradition in Italy on New Year is to wear something red. Many Italians claim it will bring them good luck. (Слайд 29)

Pupils: buone anno nuovo!

Pupils: Sweden

Pupil 1: The longest New year holiday is in The Kingdom Of Sweden. It begins on the 13th of December (St. Lucia Day) and ended on the 13 of January. (Слайд 32)

Pupil 2: St. Lucia's Day is the beginning of New Year holiday. Early in the morning on December 13th the oldest daughter puts on a white robe with a red belt and lighted candles. Further the girl needs to wake up her parents and give them coffee and buns. (Слайд 33)

Pupil 3: “Advent” is a period after St. Lucia's Day. One of the most known traditions is "the advent wreath" a wreath of fir branches, which bears four candles. The first Sunday one candle is lit, on the second — two and so on, so every week is becoming brighter. (Слайд 34)

Pupil 4: The Swedes like to decorate their New Year's trees by wooden toys and ornaments made of straw. The straw goat is one of the oldest national attributes. The goat helps to give children presents. (Слайд 35)

Teacher: People in Sweden speak Swedish. How do we congratulate say “New Year in Swedish”? (Слайд 36)

Pupils: China

Pupil 1: Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival in China, is China's most important traditional festival. Chinese New Year's Day is the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar. The date is different each year on the Gregorian calendar, but is always between January 21th and February 20th. (Слайд 38)

Pupil 2: Streets and houses are decorated with red. Red is the main color for the festival. Red lanterns hang in streets. Red couplets and pictures of prosperity are pasted on doors. (Слайд 39)

Pupil 3: Many cultural activities are arranged during the festival such as firecrackers, ancestor worship, lion and dragon dances. (Слайд 40)

Pupil 4: Like Christmas in the West, people exchange gifts during the Spring Festival. The most common gifts are red envelopes. Red envelopes have money in, and are given to children and seniors. (Слайд 41)

Pupils: India

Pupil 1: In different parts of India the New Year is celebrated  at different times of the year. But apart from the regional new years, India also celebrates the 1st day of January as a new beginning with the rest of the world. (Слайд 44)

Pupil 2: The Festival of Lights, known as ‘Deepawali’ or ‘Diwali’ marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows. (Слайд 45)

Pupil 3: In the east, the festival is devoted to Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth. Goddess Lakshmi brings gifts to children. (Слайд 46)

Pupil 4: In the south, mothers place sweets, flowers and small gifts on a special tray. In the morning, children get their presents. (Слайд 47)

Teacher: Hindi is official language in India. Could you say ‘Happy New Year ’in Hindi? (Слайд 48)

Teacher: Wonderful! So, you see today we learn how to congratulate with new year in 8 languages! Now let’s check your carefulness. It’s high time for the New Year’s Quiz. You have to answer for 20 questions. If you know the answer, you should rise you hand. For each correct answer, you will get a present. (Слайды 49-69)
