Tree projects “Angry Column”, “Perfect School” and “If I were the Principal of my School” are united in one brochure as they are logically connected by one topic “My School”. These projects were fulfilled by the students of the 7th “b” and the 10th “c” grades during the lessons of English (supervisor – Shmitova Stella Yurievna, the teacher of English) and then the materials were designed with the help of the program “MS Publisher”. So, we have a typed and a computer version of the projects.

Angry Column

This project is introduced in Unit 44 (exercise G, p 95) of the Students’ Book “World Class Level 3” (Michael Harris, David Mower, Longman) which is used by students of the 7th grades at school № 41. School project “Angry column” was done at the lessons of English by the students of the 7th “b” grade in the framework of studying the topic “My school”. (Supervisor – Shmitova Stella Yurievna, the teacher of English)

School Project

In pairs, write about your school, like this:

ANGRY COLUMN!

There’s nothing to do at lunchtime!

Somebody should organize some games because everybody likes sport.

There’s nowhere to go after school!

Somebody should organize a disco because everybody likes music and dancing.

The aim of the project is: to create conditions during the lesson of English for the practice of some, any, no, every and their compounds and the modal verbs should, ought to, have/has to, must in written and oral speech through the presentation by students the ideas about the necessary changes in their own school.

The tasks of the project are:

  • to teach students to use some, any, no, every and their compounds in the affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences
  • to teach students to express obligation and necessity using modal verbs should, ought to, have/has to, must
  • to teach students to express their own thoughts in writing using the example
  • to teach students to use a dictionary
  • to teach students to make presentation of their thoughts and ideas in public
  • to teach students to analyze the result of their mutual work, to find common ideas which can be regarded as the most important ones.

After fulfilling all the tasks, the written materials of the project were used to make a brochure with the help of the program “Publisher”.

The materials of this project can be useful for the administration of school as the guideline in their work.

Perfect School

The project “Perfect school” is also done during the studying of the topic “My school” by the students of the 7th “b” grade. The project is represented in Unit № 48 (exercise G, p. 103) of the Students’ Book “World Class, Level 3 (Longman,).

School buildings and facilities play an important part in students’ lives and students are generally very interested in the way their school is laid out. This project gives students the opportunity of designing their ideal school, comparing it to others and listening to other students’ ideas and plans.

Before fulfilling the task of the project students listen to the cassette with the description of some perfect schools designed by English students. They also have the plans of these perfect schools in the Students’ Books. This preparatory work helps students to fulfill the task well.

The task:

Draw a plan of your own perfect school and label the facilities.

The aim of the project is: to create conditions for practicing English expressions of location and the names of different rooms in written and oral speech through designing and presentation of plans of an ideal school by students and comparing their own schools to others and listening to other students’ ideas and plans.

The tasks of the project are:

  • to teach students to use English expressions of location
  • to develop creative abilities of the students
  • to develop imagination of the students
  • to teach students to make oral presentation of their project
  • to revise question forms and short answers

After fulfilling all the tasks, the written materials of the project were used to make a brochure with the help of the program “Publisher”. The materials of this project can be useful for the administrative workers of school as the guideline in their work.

If I were the Principal of my School.

This project was fulfilled by the students of the 10th “c” grade. The main idea of the project was to give students of the senior grades the opportunity to present their ideas about the possible way of improvement of school and school life.

The task is:

Imagine that you are the principal of your school. What would you do if you had a chance to improve? What would you change if you were the principal of your school? Write about it and be ready to present your ideas orally.

The aim of the project is: to create conditions for the practice Conditional Sentences (Type2) in written and oral speech through the use of these sentences in certain designed situation (role play)

The tasks of the project are:

  • to explain students how to use Conditional Sentences (Type 2)
  • to practice the use of Conditional Sentences (Type2) in written and spoken English
  • to teach students to make oral presentation of the project
  • to teach students to conduct dialogues
  • to teach students to give arguments and to prove their own points of view

After fulfilling all the tasks, the written materials of the project were used to make a brochure with the help of the program “Publisher”. The materials of this project can be useful for the administrative workers of school as the guideline in their work.
