3. Тренировка навыков аудирования.

4. Развитие коммуникативных навыков по теме окружающая среда

Оборудование: интерактивная доска, CD-ROM, картинки по теме.

Ход урока

I. Introduction

Teacher’s question

1) What is the weather like today?

2) Is it frosty?

But some days ago it was rather warm. So we may say that climate in our region is very changeable. What is the reason of it?

Possible answer:

The weather is changeable because of people’s activity.

So our activity has changed our climate. That is why today we’ll speak about environmental problems. But first let’s revise our vocabulary.

II. CD-ROM – vocabulary activity 7

Listen and match the descriptions with the words

1.Bottle bank A: A very large ship for transporting oil.
2.Deforestation B: A large bin for recycling glass bottles and jars.
3.Endangered species C: An area of countryside where animals and plants are protected.

VI. Teacher’s conclusion

When we speak about our environment we mean water, wild life, air. So, we have read a text about water “Making every drop caught”. One of the biggest problems for the future will be a shortage of water. A lot of people are now trying to find out ways to save water. What are your suggestions?

Possible answers:

  1. We should take short showers instead of baths
  2. We shouldn’t leave the tap running while you brush your teeth or wash your hands.
  3. We should fill a sink to wash up instead of leaving the tap running to reduce the amount of water.
  4. Dishwashers and washing machines should only be used when they are full and on a short cycle when possible.
  5. It can also save water if any leaks or waste in your neighbourhood are reported to your local council.

Teacher:

Another problem of our environment is deforestation. People have cut down millions of trees. What is the result? Many types of animals and plants are disappearing. What is the solution? Zoos and safari parks can help animals survive.

You will hear a short talk by a warden given to visitors to a nature reserve. Listen to the talk and complete the rules for visitors.
