Тема: “Welcome to the USA! ”

Задачи:

  • продолжать знакомить учащихся с особенностями и достопримечательностями США;
  • обогатить учащихся новыми языковыми средствами;
  • учить учащихся аргументированным микровысказываниям;
  • развивать общемыслительные и речевые способности.

Оборудование: УМК “New Millennium English”, 7 класс, магнитофон, мультимедийный проектор, раздаточный материал.

Ход урока:

ОНУ.

Good- morning, boys and girls! I am glad to see you! Take your places, please. Today we are going to continue our exploration of the USA. But now let’s repeat some names. (слайд 1)

Фонетическая зарядка.

So, let’s repeat these names all together: The USA, Washington, the Mississippi, American, Columbus, Independence Day.

What associations do you have with these words? Tell some words about them.

Проверка домашнего задания:

Your home task was to read the parts of the poem and put them in the right order.

In fourteen hundred ninety-two Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

He made the trip again and again, Trading gold to bring to Spain. The first Americans? No, not quite. But Columbus was brave and he was bright.

The Arakawa natives were very nice; They gave the sailors food and spice. Columbus sailed on to find some gold To bring back home, as he’d been told.

He had three ships and left from Spain; He sailed through sunshine, wind and rain. He sailed by night; he sailed by day; He used the stars to find his way. A compass also helped him know How to find the way to go.

October 12 their dreams came true, You never saw a happier crew! “Indians! Indians!” Columbus cried; His heart was filled with joyful pride. But “India” the land was not; It was the Bahamas, and it was hot.

Ninety sailors were on board; Some men worked while others snored. Then the workers went to sleep; And others watched the ocean deep. Day after day they looked for land; They dreamed of trees and rocks and sand.

So, there are some questions for you. They can help us to check your knowledge about the USA. Read and answer them. (Вопросы на слайде).

Визуальные упражнения: (слайд 3) учащимся раздаются карточки с названиями достопримечательностей.

You have got some cards. There are names of some sights of the USA. Your task is to match the pictures and the names. (Statue of Washington; Canyon, Colorado; Mississippi River, Columbia, NASA, Niagara falls, Statue of Liberty, the Capitol, Manhattan).

Упражнения по обучению микровысказываниям: (слайд 4).

There are some beginnings of statements. You should finish then using your knowledge about the USA. You may use your books and work-books.

Обучающее чтение.

Now open your workbooks on p. 37 ex. 1a. Read the information about American holidays. I’ll give you some minutes for reading and then you should answer the question What holidays are the most popular in the USA? (слайд 5)

Письменные упражнения:

There is ex. 1b on p. 39 you must read and complete the sentences.

Итог урока:

What new facts have you learned today? What facts are the most interesting for you and why?
