Цели урока: изучение достопримечательностей Лондона, ознакомление с их историческими фактами, развитие навыков аудирования, чтения, говорения.

Использованные технологии: информационно-коммуникативные, проектные, проблемные, игровые.

Оборудование: АРМ учителя, интерактивная доска, аудиозапись, раздаточный материал.

План урока

  1. Организационный момент (приветствие и объяснение целей урока).
  2. Воспроизведение аудиозаписи.
  3. Преддемонстрационный этап.
  4. Предлагается вспомнить достопримечательности Лондона (развитие навыков вопросно-ответной формы работы).

  5. Демонстрационный этап.
  6. Работа с мультимедийной презентацией “Путешествие по Лондону”. Во время просмотра ученики читают вслух предлагаемые тексты (содержание текстов по слайдам прилагаются).

  7. Последемонстрационный этап.
  8. 1) Викторина: “Отгадай достопримечательность Лондона”. Детям предлагается видеоряд достопримечательностей города (вариант мультимедийной презентации без текстового сопровождения) и подготовленный раздаточный материал с названиями достопримечательностей. Во время просмотра слайдов ученики должны отгадать название объектов и проставить номера в порядке их показа. Выигрывает тот ученик, у которого больше всего правильных ответов.

    2) Викторина: “Отгадай дату”. Выбрать две команды. На интерактивной доске появляются даты и события (из содержания мультимедийной презентации). Участники викторины должны соединить их. Команды выполняют по одному соединению по очереди, неправильные ответы аннулируются. Выигрывает команда с наибольшим количеством правильных ответов.

  9. Завершающий этап. Детям предлагается вспомнить другие им известные достопримечательности Лондона и рассказать о них.
  10. Домашнее задание: подготовить монологическое высказывание о достопримечательностях Лондона; по желанию: подготовить дополнительный материал по теме.
  11. Подведение итогов и оценивание результатов работы.
  12. Звучит музыка, дети выходят из класса.

“Путешествие по Лондону”.

  1. London is the capital of the UK. It’s political, economic and cultural centre.
  2. London is one of the largest cities in the world and the largest city in Europe. London is one of the oldest and the most interesting cities in the world.
  3. London was founded by the Romans in 43 AD. It was called Londinium. They built a town on the River Thames.
  4. In 61 AD the town was burnt down. Then Londinium was rebuilt by the Romans and surrounded by a wall. This wall is now called the City of London.
  5. Sometimes there were fires in the city. On Saturday, 2nd September, 1666 the Great Fire of London took place. It started in the house of the king’s baker, near London Bridge. The fire burnt for four days and destroyed 80 % of the city. After the Great Fire people built a new city.
  6. London is a city of great contrasts.
  7. Traditionally London is divided into several parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End. They are very different from each other and seem to belong to different towns and epochs.
  8. The City is the heart of London. It is a financial and business centre of London.
  9. Westminster is the historical and political centre of London .
  10. The West End is the richest and most beautiful part of London. It is the symbol of wealth and luxury.
  11. The East End is the poorest district of London.
  12. There are a lot of world-famous places in London.
  13. Walking around London we can see and admire the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Whitehall, the Houses of Parliament, the British Museum, the Natural Museum and many other places in the city.
  14. The Tower of London was founded by Julius Caesar, In 1066 the Tower was rebuilt by William the Conqueror.
  15. The Tower of London was used as a fortress, a royal palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. Now it is a museum where we can see the Crown Jewels and a fine collection of armour. The most beautiful building of the Tower is the White Tower.
  16. A lot of ancient traditions and customs are carefully kept in the Tower. For example, taking care of the ravens in the Tower. The legend says: till the ravens are alive England will be rich.
  17. St. Paul’s Cathedral is the largest Protestant Church in England.
  18. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built St. Paul’s Cathedral in the 17th century. It took Sir Christopher Wren 35 years. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers. In one of its towers there is one of the largest bells in the world.
  19. Westminster Abbey has more historic associations than any other building in Britain.
  20. Westminster Abbey is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. It was founded by Edward the Confessor in 1050. The construction lasted 300 years.
  21. Nearly all English kings and queens have been crowned here. Many outstanding scientists, statesmen, writers, musicians and painters are buried here: British monarchs, Darwin, Newton. In the Poet’s Corner one can find the tombs of William Shakespeare, Byron, Kipling, T.S. Eliot and others.
  22. Across the road from Westminster Abbey is Westminster Palace. The Palace of Westminster is among the world’s most famous buildings, or the Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Parliament. It is the symbol of London.
  23. The Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament is famous for its big hour bell, known as “Big Ben”. Big Ben is named after Sir Benjamin Hall. In fact Big Ben is really the name of the bell in the tower, not of the clock.
  24. Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Queen. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it which is the Queen Victoria Memorial.
  25. Number 10, Downing Street has been the home of the British Prime Minister since 1735.
  26. Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London. It is the most beautiful square in London.
  27. Trafalgar Square was named in memory of Admiral Nelson’s victory in the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The tall Nelson’s Column stands in the middle of the square. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square.
  28. There are a lot of art galleries and museums in London.
  29. The National Gallery bordering the north of Trafalgar Square was built in 1838.
  30. The National Gallery is one of the finest art galleries in the world. It contains a collection of Western European paintings from 13th century to the present day: El Greco, Rubens, Rembrandt rooms.
  31. The National Portrait Gallery.
  32. The National Portrait Gallery is at the back of the National Gallery in Charing Cross Road. Its collection was formed in 1856. The collection has more than 4,000 famous faces of Great Britain, including today’s royal family.
  33. The British Museum is one of the greatest museums of the world.
  34. The British Museum is the biggest museum in London. It contains a priceless collection of ancient manuscripts, coins, sculptures, etc. It is famous for its library.
  35. Madam Tussaud’s Waxworks
  36. The famous Waxworks Museum has the models of famous people from pop stars to prime ministers, displays of battles and a Chamber of Horror. It has one of the largest collections of wax models in the world.
  37. London is very rich in parks and gardens.
  38. The Royal Parks of London are St. James’s Park, Green Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Regent’s Park.
  39. Hyde Park is famous for its outdoor entertainments and its Speaker’s Corner.
  40. Regent’s Park has London Zoo, a boating lake and an open-air theatre, where in summer you can enjoy Shakespeare’s plays.
  41. St. James’s Park, the oldest London park, is very beautiful with its trees and flower beds and view of Buckingham Palace.
  42. The statue of the famous fairy-tale hero, Peter Pan, can be seen in Kensington Gardens.
