ХОД УРОКА

Фонетическая зарядка. Стихотворение "Sally Speaks Spanish"

Представление темы урока.

T - the theme of our lesson is "The pleasure of reading". We'll try to answer the question why so many people are fond of books. There are authors and characters famous all over the world. Who hasn't read "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll or "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain or "Mowgli" by Rudyard Kipling? Who hasn't traveled with Mary Poppins to her imaginary world? Who hasn't imagined himself to be Robinson Crusoe on the deserted island? The books are filmed, we see the screen versions of many of them.

Речевая зарядка.

Tell me, please

Are you fond of reading?

What kind of books do you like to read?

Where do you get books to read?

Do you have many books at home?

When did you learn to read?

When did you learn to read English books?

Most teenagers have different opinions on reading. What's yours? Why do you think so?

Do you know a poem about books?

A poem:

The book I think is very much
A little golden door
That takes me to the countries
Where I've never been before.

Pre-reading activity.

Role-play: At the Library.

Imagine that you are in our school library. N - is a librarian. P2P3P4 - readers have come to borrow some books to read at home. What books would you like to read? Learn bits of dialogues:

"I ve'read the book "The Old Man and the Sea" by Hemingway, but I lent it from my friend as I know that there's no such a book in our library".

"You are mistaken. Have you heard about the charity action "Second life of the book"? We restored some books and among them "The Old Man and the Sea". Now you can take it out in the library.

"What can I do for you?"

"I would like to read a book about a famous traveler".

"Let me see. Oh, we've got some interesting books about famous people. Here is the book about Afanasiy Nikitin".

"Thank you very much".

"Could you help me to choose a book on history?"

"Certainly. On this shelf we have different books on history".

"Have you read "Spartak"?

"Who is the author of that book?"

"Jeavanioli."

"What kind of books do you like, Tom?"

"Oh, I'm fond of adventure books. I've read all books from my home library".

"Well, there are a lot of adventure books in our school library. Try it!"

"Thank you. That's a good idea!"

"Do you like poetry? Who is your favourite poet?"

"It's difficult to say. It might be Burns or Byron, Tennyson or Kipling. Each of them creates his own world."

"For instance, Burns is unique for the melody of his verses, for his wisdom and sense of humour."

"I like this one:

Oh, my love is like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June.
Oh, my love is like the melody
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

"It's like music. Perfect recitation!"

"Robert Burns was an interesting personality. He was born into a farming family in 1759. Robert's father worked hard but he died in poverty. Burns received some elementary schooling".

"He was fond of Shakespeare and Milton. He studied world geography, English grammar, some physics, astronomy and botany. Robert Burns was well educated for his times."

"He was a man of character, a man of principle and a brilliant talker. He was a bitter satirist and a rebel against the social order in his country. He wanted justice for his people".

It's time to sum up information about books. I advise you to fill in the word-web "Why people read books" (заполняют словесного паука, работают в парах, зачитывают вслух).

Your home task is to write a composition according to our plan about books.
