IV. Объявление темы урока

T: Today we’ll continue to speak about Russian literature. We are going to speak about the poetry of the Silver Age in Russian literature. For the first time the term the “Silver Age” was suggested by the well-known philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev. As the society of the end of the 19 century was searching for paths to the new social order, the writers and poets were striving to master new artistic forms and ways of expression, and put forward bold innovative ideas. Realistic portrayal of life did not satisfy authors any longer, and their argument with the classics of the 19th century generated new literary movements, such as symbolism (K. Balmont), acmeism (Gumilyov, Akhmatova), and fututism (Mayakovsky). Besides them, there were some poets, i.e. Esenin, who wrote about the simple life, or Tsvetayeva, who didn’t belong to any of those movements.
