I. Организационный момент. Введение в тему урока.

Hello, dear students! I’m glad to see you! At our lesson today we will discuss the text about Alan Milne and work on grammar material “The Present Perfect Continuous Tense”.

At home you have read the text about Alan Milne and now we’ll work out the pronunciation of some proper names which you came across while reading. Look at the blackboard and read after me:

IV. Презентация “A.A.Milne. Some Facts From His Biography”.

Now we come to the presentation about Alan Milne which will give you some facts from his biography. You know some of them from the text you have read at home. Revise the information.

Alan Alexander Milne (1882–1956) was a famous English writer, the author of Pooh stories.

In 1913 A. Milne married Dorothy De Selincourt.

Christopher Robin, the Milnes’ only child, was born on August 21st, 1920.

Christopher Robin was given his favorite toy Teddy Bear as a present for his first birthday.

A Canadian cavalry regiment smuggled Winnipeg the Bear to Britain as an unofficial regimental mascot.

She lived at London Zoo from 1915 till 1934 and was much loved for her playfulness. Christopher Robbins teddy bear was called Winnie-the-Pooh after her.

Books about Winnie-the-Pooh weren’t written for children but instead A. Milne intended them for the child within a grown up.

Ernst Sheppard was a Punch staff cartoonist who made illustrations to the Pooh stories which contributed to the books’ success.

Here you see Ernst Sheppard’s illustrations to Milne’s books. Sheppard modeled Pooh not on the toy owned by Christopher Robin but on a stuffed bear owned by his own son.
