Episode 1.
Music.
Speaker 1: Our story begins in 1066. In that year the Normans came from France and defeated the Anglo-Saxons. Then the Normans ruled England for the next three hundred years.
Speaker 2: There were lots of forests and wild animals in England at the time. These forests belonged to the Normans. Only the Normans and King could hunt the animals or cut the trees.
Speaker 3: It’s a summer morning in 1193. Robert, Earl of Huntington (Robin Hood) is in church with Marian. It is their wedding day.
Pastor: Do you, Robert of Huntington, take this woman, Marian Fitzwalter, to be your wife?
Robert: I do.
Pastor: Do you, Marian Fitzwalter, take this man, Robert of Huntington, to be your husband?
Marian: I…
Sheriff: Stop the wedding! (He is coming into the room. The music is playing)
Robert: It’s the Sheriff of Nottingham…
Sheriff: You are an enemy of the king.
Robert: Me? King Richard’s enemy? Never!
Sheriff: Richard is in prison. Prince John is in power now, and he is my friend. From this moment, you have no castle, no land and no title.
Robert: I have nothing now – do you still want to marry me?
Marian: Yes, of course…
Sheriff: Arrest him. …
Marian: No! Help! Stop this!
Sheriff: This is the new Earl of Huntington – my friend, Sir Guy of Gisborne.
Marian: No! Robert! Stop this, please! Sir Guy of Gisborne comes into the room.
Sheriff: (to the soldiers) Take him away! The soldiers try to catch Robert.
Robert: Never! He rides away.
Sheriff: Stop him! Stop!
They all run away. The music.
Episode 2.
Speaker 2: Robert gets off the horse. He goes through the Sherwood Forest. He meets outlaws there.
Outlaw 1: Stop! Give us your money!
Wait! I know him! This is Robert, Earl of Huntington.
Robert: Yes, and I know you, Will Scarlett. But… who are these men? Why are they here? What are you doing here?!
Will Scarlett: We are outlaws. The sheriff is our enemy.
Outlaw 2: The forest is our home because the Sheriff’s men can’t find us here Robert: From today, I am an outlaw, too. Guy of Gisborne has my title and my castle.
Outlaw 1: You can join us! And stay with us here!
Will Scarlett: Yes! Be our leader against Gisborne and Sheriff!
Outlaw 3: And here is a bow for you, and a green hood to wear.
Robert: Thank you. Sherwood Forest is my castle now, and my name is …. Robin … Robin Hood!
Will Scarlett: Robin Hood, Lord of the Greenwood!
All together: Robin Hood! Lord of the Greenwood! Hooray!
The music.
Episode 3.
They go through the forest. They meet 2 strangers.
Outlaw 1: Stop! Who are you? Give us your money!
A stranger 1: What! Why must we give you our money?! Who are you! Go away! Let us go! We must see Robin Hood! He is over here with his friends.
Outlaw 1: Why? What do you want? Do you want to lose your money and your heads?!
A stranger 2: No, no! Stop, please! First, listen! We want Robin to teach us archery.
A stranger 1: Because we must resist the King and his men. They don’t let us to hunt. The forest and the animals in it belong to the King and only the King. Nobody is allowed to kill his animals.
A stranger 2: But our families are hungry. We had nothing to eat. But we must pay money to the King and money to the Church. We must work for Normans. We don’t have money to buy food or clothes. How can we live?!
A stranger 1: We must see Robin Hood. It’s very important. The Sheriff is going to hang three men tomorrow that killed a deer in the forest to get a little food for the children.
Outlaw 1: Silence! Listen! Somebody is coming here! Can you hear?
Outlaw 2: Yes! I can. I’m hearing. Somebody is singing.
The music. A poor woman is coming through the forest with her daughter.
They’re singing a song .
Outlaw 2: Oh! I know them! I saw this woman in our village. Good morning! What are you doing here? Where is your husband?
A woman: We want to find Robin Hood and his outlaws. My husband is dead. The Sheriff’s men killed him last year. And we are here with my daughter. And we have nothing to eat.
Woman’s daughter: Maid Marian sent us some food. She helped us a lot. How kind and nice she is! But we haven’t seen her! Where is she? Do you know anything about her?
A woman: I heard she has married to Robin Hood. But since that I haven’t heard anything about Marian. What’s the matter? I don’t know.
Robin Hood: I know! She is in prison. She was sent to prison by Sheriff in our wedding day! It is awful! Poor Marian. My dear Marian. How is she? Where is she? I must help her! I must save her! Are you with me? Will you help me to rescue Marian and to overthrow the King and his men? Come with me!
Strangers, outlaws Will Scarlett and the woman with her daughter: We are with you, Robin! We all are here! We all are ready to be with you against our enemies! Yes, we are here with you, Robin. We want to help you. We want to help Marian! We want to help all people in England!
The music. They all hold hands and go away.
Episode 4.
Speaker 1: Robin and his men rode away. They want to overthrow the King and to help Marian and other people in prison.
Speaker 2: But while Robin and his men are in the forest, Gisborne and the Sheriff are making plans inside Nottingham Castle. The Sheriff is very angry!
Sheriff: Gisborne! We must catch this outlaw, Robin Hood immediately! The people are laughing at me! I heard they are going to be here! In this castle!!! What do you think about it?!!! (Stamps his feet and cries)
Gisborne: (Gently) We can’t find him in Sherwood Forest. We couldn’t catch him at the archery competition. But…. we can bring him to the castle. We have Marian and she is in love with Robin. I’ve got a plan…. I have Robin’s title, his lands and his castle. Why can’t I marry her?!
Sheriff: (Loudly) Yes!... Guards! Bring Marian Fitzwalter here! Hurry up!
Marian is coming into the room.
Sheriff: You want to marry the Earl of Huntingdon, don’t you? Well, you can.
Marian: But how? He is an outlaw!
Gisborne: I am the Earl of Huntingdon now! You are going to marry me!
Marian: Never! Never! I love the real Earl of Huntingdon – Robin Hood! I will see him! I will marry him! Only him!
Gisborne: Ha! Ha! Ha!
Gisborne and Sheriff come out of the room. They’re talking and laughing.
Music. Marian is dressing like a young man.
Episode 5.
Speaker 1: Marian dressed on the old servant’s clothes and put on an old bag over her shoulders and put on an old hat on her head. Then she came to the window, opened it and jumped out of it.
Speaker 2: After that,… Marian, … beautiful Marian climbed quietly on the Gisborne’s …..or, no….. on Robin Hood’s horse and ran far, far away from prison. And she rode quickly to Sherwood Forest.
Speaker 1: She rode through the dark trees until on of Robin Hood’s outlaws stopped her.
Outlaw 1: Stop, silly man! Where are you going to? What are you looking for here? Who are you? Oh… I understand… Yes! I know you! I really know you! You are the Sheriff’s servant. I saw you! Yes! Yes! You are the Sheriff’s man!
Outlaw 2: So, we have to kill you! Just now! Here! Are you alone? Are there more of Sheriff’s men in the forest? M…m…m… but I like your clothes First, we’ll kill you and then I’ll take your clothes. No! First, I’ll take your clothes and then, I’ll kill you!
Marian: My clothes? But they are worn out.(very bravely). Who needs them? But I’ll give you a lot of gold coins if you bring me to Robin Hood! I have something to tell him.
Marian says something else into their ears.
Outlaw 2: What?! Follow us! Hurry up! We don’t have much time!
Music. ….. Then, Robin Hood and all his friends come to them. Marian takes of old man’s clothes and comes to Robin. How beautiful she is!
Outlaw 1: (doesn’t see Marian) Robin! Look! This man is from the town. He has something to tell us about Sheriff’s plans. You may think he is our enemy. But he has a brilliant idea. And… (turns to Robin and sees Marian in his arms) and…
Robin Hood: Marian! My beautiful Marian! You are here!
Marian: Oh! My dear, Robin! At last we are together!
Robin Hood: Meet my best friends! This is Little John, the biggest and strongest man in Sherwood. Here is Alan Adale. He is a singer. He often plays music in the town, so he hears what is happening there. And of course we have Friar Tuck, our favourite fat monk. he’s fat because he eats well. And this is …. (points to Outlaw 2) …this is..
Marian: Oh! I know him. And I am ready to give him my old clothes with my hat and my old shoes! Also I want to give him some coins! Here you are! (laughs)
Outlaw 2: Dear, Marian! I don’t need your old clothes, your coins and even your horse, but I so need your beautiful smile!
Robin Hood: Well! We are all together! We re good friends! Let’s go to Nottingham!
Outlaws: We will overcome our enemies! We will return our homes and horses! We will listen to our children’s laugh in the town! Our people won’t need any food or money!
Marian: Our women will smile and laugh again!
They all sing a song ‘The More We Are together’.
