Цель: сравнить традиции европейского и российского Рождества

Задачи:

  • ознакомить учащихся с традициями празднования Рождества в Европейских странах и России;
  • ознакомить с лексикой по теме и тренировать её употребление;
  • воспитывать уважение к традициям других стран и своей культуры;
  • развивать творческие способности учащихся;
  • развивать навыки коллективной работы, воспитывать чувство товарищества и взаимовыручки;
  • расширить кругозор учащихся.

Оснащение:

  • компьютер (ноутбук) и проектор, презентации учащихся и учителя, записи рождественских песен, тексты заданий, материалы для творческого задания (листы бумаги и маркеры, фломастеры)

Подготовительная работа:

  • подготовка презентаций учащимися (Рождество в Великобритании, Германии, Франции);
  • выбор участников команд и жюри;
  • подготовка конкурсных заданий;

Ход мероприятия

1. Оргмомент.

Teacher: Hello, boys and girls. I’m glad to see you today. How are you?

2. Вступительное слово. Речевая зарядка.

Teacher: There are different holidays round the year. What groups of holidays can you name? (public, personal, seasonal, religious, etc)

What holidays are called religious? Why do people celebrate them?

Today we are going to speak about one of the most popular religious holiday in Europe – Christmas. We are going to compare it with Russian Christmas.

First we are going to see your presentations about Christmas in the UK, Germany, France and Russia. Then a few contests are waiting for you.

Teacher: What about Russian Christmas? Let’s read the text and complete the gaps.

Fill in the words: young, celebrate, table, twelve, eat

Christmas is one of the main holidays of Christians, the second after Easter. On this day people 1).... the major event - the birth of the Jesus Christ. In Russia Christmas is celebrated differently from the other Christian countries. Catholic Christmas falls on 25th December, but the Orthodox is on 7th January. This is due to the fact that the Russian Church follows the Julian Calendar and the Catholic church – the Gregorian.

Celebrating Christmas begins on Christmas Eve - on January 6, which is called the Sochelnyk. On this day people 2)... so-called sochivo - boiled wheat (or rice) with honey and fruits. Many believers don’t eat anything until “the first star”, which symbolizes the birth of the Divine Baby. The main event of Christmas is a supper on Sochelnyk. Our ancestors put on a 3) ... a bunch of fresh hay - in memory of the place, in which Jesus was born. A table is covered with a snow-white cloth and 4)... dishes are placed on it - the number of the apostles.

From the first day of Christmas holidays, January 7, and until the Christening Svyatki take place. These days 5)... men and women have special magic traditions or “gadania”.

Nowadays some Christmas traditions are still alive.
