Introduction: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon, our students and guests! We are glad to see you at our meeting, which purpose is to learn to become successful. Well, what do you think success is?

1) First, there is decoding of the abbreviation of success.

S – means sense of direction

U – is responsible for understanding

C – stands for clarity

E – is esteem

S – is self-confidence

the other S – self-acceptance

The main part:

1) There are some famous people’s definitions of success. Some of them are given on the slide 2. Do you agree with these quotations?

2) What words are synonymous to success? The task for you is to find words synonymous to success given in these handouts. If you find all the words, raise your hands and you will be first and get as many points as many right words you have found.

3) If you have noticed, all organizers of our meeting are in black today. Why? What does the black colour symbolize? On the one hand, black symbolizes power, elegance, and formality. From the economic point of view, black is the colour of credit worthiness, the colour of richness. What do other colours mean? Please, pull 2 sheets of paper of different shapes and different colours. And try to discuss what these colours mean in groups using the shape of paper as a prompt. Who in your group can explain what these colours mean for our listeners?

4) And what are you favourite colours? Choose a strip of your favourite colour and explain why you have chosen it?

5) Let’s move on to measure success! What is success accosiated with? They say different things make different people happy. Is money the measure of success?

Please, take paper and write things you think the measure of success is.

6) Now explain what for you success is! For each participant who takes part in this discussion you get 1 point.

7) Do you think the meaning of success depends on the age?  Pull a card with the age number and decide what success for people of the definite age mean!

8) Let’s decide what we can do with success! Assemble verbs from the given letters to make collocations with the word Success!

9) What things are necessary to reach success? Write these things on the sheets of paper and compare with what you can see on the back side of them. Do you agree with what is written on the back side of handouts?

10) There is a wheel of success. You see success has got a lot of components, for example: persistence, activity, wish to better something, desire to learn etc.

11) There is  also the pyramid of success. If you have noticed, there are 2 things at the top of this pyramid: faith and patience.

12) So, what are the steps of achieving success? For each idea you get 1 point. You can see other people’s opinions about the steps of success on this slide.

13) And what is necessary to achieve success in studying? Have you got any ideas? Express them! For each idea you get 1 point! Now look at the slide and you see that to be successful in studying you should 1) attend classes, 2) do homework, 3) prepare for exams, 4) treat classes like a job, 5) stay at the college as long as necessary, 6) go to the library and work on home task.

14) Can you name some people who reached success? What are they famous for? What is the reason of their success?

15) Do success and failure go hand in hand? They say that the road to success is always under construction. It means that a lot of successful people were poor, not so clever, not so talented when they were young. A lot of successful people fall into drugs, alcohol or other destructive behaviors at the end of their lives. Do you know such people whose road to success was laid through losses and failures?

Conclusion:

1) We are coming nearer to the end of our discussion. It is the time to make conclusion. There are some of the famous tips that can be necessary for you to learn to become successful.

For example: W. Shakespeare advises you

Bruce Lee recommend always to be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not give up, look for a successful personality and duplicate him\her.
Mark Twain said that to succeed in life you need 2 things: ignorance and confidence.
