Цель урока: Совершенствование речевых умений и навыков по теме “Are you a friend of the planet?”

Задачи урока:

  1. Активизация лексики по теме.
  2. Развитие навыков говорения.

  4. Обобщение изученного материала по теме “Are you a friend of the planet?”

Ход урока

1. Начало урока.

Организационный момент. Беседа с дежурным.

Сообщение задач урока.

T.: Good morning, children! I’m glad to see you. Our theme is “How do you treat the Earth?” It is a very important question because there are a lot of ecological problems in our town, in our country and even in the world. That’s why we have an ecological conference today. We’ll discuss some ecological problems and we’ll try to find some possible ways to solve them.

  2. Ways how to help our planet.

T.: Let’s begin our lesson. At first brush up your phonetics. Read the poem all together.

A wise old owl lived in an oak

T: You know a lot of words to our theme. Remember some of them and complete the word web.

T.: Let’s start our conference. At first name the most important ecological problems.

P1: There are a lot of ecological problems. One of them is water pollution. A lot of rivers, lakes and seas are polluted. They are full of garbage and poisonous chemicals.

P2: There are a lot of factories in our country. There are a lot of cars in our cities and 4 towns. They pollute the air. Air pollution is a problem. Air pollution destroys the ozone layer.

P3: Many trees are cut down for building and for making paper. Deforestation is a great problem nowadays.

P4: Another problem is endangered animals. When the forests disappear many animals are disturbed. Polluted water is dangerous for fish and sea animals.

T.: You are right. You have named the most urgent environmental problems. You mentioned the problem of endangered animals.

T.: I am sure you know about the Red Data Book. It is a reference book on rare and disappearing animals, birds and flowers. On the slide you can see some animals from the Red Book.

T.: Ten animals are hidden in the letters below. You can see some of them in zoos or in national parks. Can you find some of these rare animals?

T.: Let’s check. On the slide you can see the photos of the animals hidden in the letters. Name them once more.

T: Eco problems are everywhere. Our town also has some ecological problems. What are the main concerns? What should we do to make our town a better place? Present your projects, please.

P1: I find the situation in our town worrying. I’m concerned about water pollution. The factories produce a lot of waste and pour it into the river. It kills fish. Some people don’t take care of the environment. They throw waste paper and bottles into the river. It is dangerous for swimming. Factories should use special filters not to pollute our river. People shouldn’t throw paper, bottles or other things into the river.

Another problem is air pollution. There are some factories in our town. They pollute the air. Factories should use special filters not to pollute the air.

There is a beautiful forest not far from our town. There are a lot of mushrooms and berries there. But the trees are cut down for making furniture, matches and other things. It is important to plant young trees.

In spring my parents and I plant trees in our garden.

P2: I’m worried about air pollution. There are a lot of cars in our town. Dangerous gases pollute the air. It is better to walk or use a bicycle instead of going by car. People throw away a lot of plastic bottles, waste paper, and crisps packets. You can reuse some of these things. It is possible to recycle used materials such as metal and paper.

As for me I do all my best to help nature. I don’t break trees. Trees clean the air. In spring I plant trees to make homes for birds and small animals. In winter I feed birds. I always throw garbage in a bin.

T.: Nowadays people understand how important it is to solve environmental problems. Do you agree with me?

P1: Yes, I do. Our Earth is our home. We should take care of the Earth. There are a lot of long and short rivers, green forests, high mountains, deep lakes and seas. There are a lot of beautiful places where we can have a rest and enjoy nature. But the problem of ecology is very important nowadays. A lot of wonderful places are spoilt. We must protect our nature and take care of the environment. If we don’t take care of nature, wild flowers are cut, the air is polluted, animals are hurt.

P2: That’s right. If we don’t take care of nature, rivers, lakes and seas are polluted. When the fire is left, the forest is destroyed. It is important to protect nature. There are a lot of people who think about the future of the planet. Some people take care of animals, others take care of birds. Some people are in charge of plants and woods. There are a lot of environmental organizations and groups. They are Green Peace, Friends of the Earth, World Wildlife Fund. These organizations do their best to help nature. They raise money for conservation projects, give support to National parks, and help mammals and birds to survive.

P3: I should add that not only grown-ups are in charge of the planet. Taking care of the Earth is everybody’s business. We must keep our country tidy. We have to keep streets, pavements clean. We mustn’t break plants and baby trees. We mustn’t throw waste paper or other things into rivers and lakes. Each of us must do everything possible to keep the land, water and air clean.

I also try to help nature. I reuse plastic bottles. In our family we recycle paper and newspapers. It helps not to cut down trees.

In our family energy waste is reduced. It helps to save energy. We reduce water waste. It helps to save water.

T.: I see. So, what do you suggest to take care of our environment?

5. Заключительный этап; подведение итогов.

T.: Well, the time of our conference is over. We have discussed some of the most important ecological problems and the ways how to solve them. I see you are friends of the Earth and you take care of our planet. More than that, you try to do your best to help our plant to be a better place.

You have worked well. I’ll give you some marks (выставление оценок учащимся).
